Every day food
The food that the ancient egyptians ate was much similar to ours. The rich and wealthy ate meat all the time because they could afford it. They also could buy beef, fillets, duck, doves and many more meats. But the farmers and slaves they just had leftover scrapes of the meat. The slaves and farmers could also afford food such as fruits, bread, hummus, fish, eggs and many other foods that we have today.

Food for special events
During special events most people were able to eat meat (because they were able to afford it). They ate food such as goat, sheep, antelope ,ostrich and many more types of meat. During the feasts the vegetables/fruit they ate were pomegranates, grapes, squash, dates, figs, cucumbers, radishes and lentils. The desserts they ate included many types of bread and pastries. Because the egyptians didn't have sugar they used dates and honey.
