Did you know that making a mummy was a very messy job. The first mummy was made over 4,000 years ago. Mummy-makers experimented with many methods of making mummies some worked better than others. The best mummies were made made during 3550 and 3069 years ago.

Mummy makers worked in open air tents far away from villages and towns. They workers were along the west bank of the Nile. The tents were left open so that the bad smells werent any where near them. They worked by the nile because it was part of a process of mummy-making.
How to make a mummy step by step
So first you had to clean the body for a week or two. Then it was rubbed with oil and spices to make it smell soft and fresh. Then it was given a wig and two false eyes,and then make-up was aplied. Lastly, tree rasin was poured on the body. This was set into a hard layer to stop mould from growing. The organs would be pulled out of the body exept the heart and they were wrapped in linen, then put in canopic jars. witch each held organs hapi held the lungs, stomach was put into duamutef, the brain in imseti, the liver and intestines were in qebehsenuef. Those four jars represented the sons of god horus. Okay lets get wraping first the head was wrapped next the limbs and torso was wrapped next the whole body wrapped and last but not least linen over the wrappings.
